THE ISLANDS OF TITICACA
FULL DAY TOUR
We will sail over the waters of the Lake Titicaca in search of the islands and their inhabitants. During the whole day we can watch the beautiful views over the distant shores of the lake, walk on the artificial islands of Uros and admire the colourful traditional clothes of the inhabitants on the island of Taquile. We will also take our lunch here in a traditional restaurant. The sailing will end with our return to the city of Puno.
The islands of Uros – Surprisingly the islands of Uros are not real islands but floating ones made from wild reed, totora in Aymara, which can grow up to 4 meters. We don't know in which century the Uros moved over the water of the lake escaping from their enemies. There are records mentioning this from the beginning of the Inka Empire (around 1450). What we do know is that they consider themselves the undisputed lords of the lake.
La Isla de Taquile – This is a natural island situated close to the Capachica península, which is outside the Puno Bay. The traditional way of life of the inhabitants of the island and the stunning view over the lake will be unforgettable moments during your visit in Peru.
